Honda Motor Europe Limited Accessibility Statement
ACCESSIBLITY IS IMPORTANT TO US
This website is operated by Honda Motor Europe (HME). At HME, we value inclusion, equality, and accessibility for all. That’s why we strive to make our website accessible to everyone, regardless of ability or access needs. We are also committed to meeting the requirements of the European Accessibility Act (EAA), along with applicable local laws in the countries where we operate.
For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
OUR WEB ACCESSIBLITY AUDIT
Our website is implemented using standard internet technologies, such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript and has been tested against the internationally recognised Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard. These guidelines form the basis of the European standard used to measure accessibility compliance under the EAA.
This website was last tested on 14/05/2025 for compliance with the WCAG 2.2 AA standard.
A manual audit of the website was conducted by VML Enterprise Solutions which covered the 20 most used templates on the website. The following technology and techniques we used during the audit:
- NVDA on Windows with Firefox/Edge
- VoiceOver on macOS with Chrome/Safari
- TalkBack + Android
- Keyboard Navigation
- Colour Contrast Checker TPGi
- Axe DevTools
In addition to this, automated accessibility scans have been enabled using the CrownPeak DQM platform, which has been configured to continuously scan the website. The scans take place weekly and cover all of the published content.
HOW ACCESSIBLE IS OUR WEBSITE?
Compliance status
The website is currently partially compliant with the requirements of the WCAG 2.2 AA standard. These areas include legacy functionality and content that will be phased out as part of our ongoing improvements. While these legacy elements may not be fully accessible, we are committed to ensuring that all newly developed content and features are fully compliant with WCAG 2.2 AA standards. Accessibility is a core consideration in all future updates to deliver a more inclusive experience for all users.
Exemptions
Some older material on this website is considered archived and is not subject to current accessibility requirements. This is because it will not be updated or edited after 28 June 2025, in line with exemptions allowed under the EAA for archived content.
Accessibility limitations
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible. Issues raised have been prioritised for implementation and include:
- PDF documents may not be fully accessible to screen reader software.
- Some interactive functionality, such as the Lawn Planner are not fully accessible.
- Other known issues by WCAG 2.2 Success Criteria:
1.1.1: Non-text content: Some images are missing meaningful alt text, and not all decorative images have an empty alt tag to identify them as such.
2.4.4: Link Purpose (In Context): There are examples of meaningless phrases used in links, such as “click here”.
2.4.6: Headings and Labels: There may be multiple headers on a page with identical text.
3.2.1 On Focus and 3.2.2 On Input: There may be examples where a link is not clearly labelled to indicate that it opens in a new tab or window.
WHAT WE’RE DOING TO IMPROVE ACCESSIBILITY
HME is embedding accessibility into its design, development, and content processes to support an inclusive digital experience. A number of key measures are being adopted to ensure new content and functionality align with accessibility standards:
- Customer Experience Design (CX):
A new Design System has been introduced to ensure future designs follow accessibility requirements - such as appropriate icon sizing, colour contrast, and layout consistency.
- Technology:
- New page authoring tools (components) have been developed to support the creation of accessible content and improve colour contrast.
- Semantic HTML is being introduced to enhance navigation for screen reader users.
- Keyboard navigation is being enabled across all interactive elements.
- Identified accessibility issues are being addressed systematically, with a focus on ensuring all future content and pages meet accessibility standards.
- Content Production:
- The Crownpeak AEM authoring plug-in has been implemented to scan content during creation and flag accessibility issues before publication.
- The Crownpeak AEM authoring plug-in has been implemented to scan content during creation and flag accessibility issues before publication.
• Authoring Guidelines:
Guidelines have been developed for content creators to support accessible publishing - for example, by avoiding text in images and ensuring appropriate use of alt text.
• Quality Assurance:
WCAG 2.2 AA standards are integrated into the quality assurance process, with all new functionality tested against these criteria as part of routine release workflows.
HME remains committed to resolving existing accessibility issues as soon as practicable and putting in place robust tools and processes to ensure future compliance.
